After the defeat in the Olympics Indian tennis sensation and Davis cup captain Leander Paes resigned his captainship for Indian Davis cup team. There was a clear rift in the team between Leander Paes and other Indian players which was headed by Mahesh Bhupathi. Despite the differences Leander Paes continued to be the captain of the Indian Davis cup team after a negotiation from the Indian Tennis Federation. But now Paes has decided to step down just before the math against the Romania. If India wins this round then it will enter the world qualifiers. A new non playing captain has been appointed for the time being.
