Abhinav Bindra at last won the elusive gold medal in Olympics for India. He won the 10m rifle shooting event beating the defending champion from champion. At one stage of the game Abhinav was actually trailing behind but came back strongly and won the first place. He was tied in the first place with his Chinese opponent in the penultimate round. In the final round he scored 10.8, the bull’s eye, and defeated his counterpart. It was his last round performance which gave him the gold medal. In fact his score in the last round was the best in the finals of that event. He held his nerves till the last moment and won the gold medal. Because of his heroics in this Olympics, his name will be carved in the history of Indian sports for immortality.
